Walking with Idioms - Zombies, Corpses and Graves

Welcome to Walking with Idioms.

Monthly videos where I pick a specific topic to talk about an Idiomize, offering practitioner resources and insight.

See below for a list of idioms from the discussion. I welcome all comments and observations.

Zombies

The term "zombie" originates from various Afro-Caribbean traditions, particularly Haitian Vodou. In this context, a zombie is a reanimated corpse brought back to life through magical or supernatural means. These zombies are often portrayed as lacking free will and being under the control of a sorcerer or priest.

In modern times, however, the concept of zombies has evolved, particularly in movies. Contemporary zombies are more commonly depicted as being driven by mindless hunger and operating on basic instincts rather than being controlled by a specific being.
